Android analytics FAQ

Where do I get the app slug and key?

From adding the app in the dashboard. Full steps: Native Android docs.

What does the Android SDK track automatically?

first_open once per install, which also resets restored identity after a reinstall, and app_open on every new session. Builds arrive tagged env=debug or env=release. See the event list.

How do I track onboarding and paywall events in Kotlin?

One call per onboarding screen, in order, with the index starting at 0: ActivationPal.onboardingStep(0, id = "goal", answer = "build_strength"). On the paywall: ActivationPal.paywallShown("onboarding") and ActivationPal.paywallPurchased("yearly"). What the funnel shows: onboarding funnel analytics.

Can I track custom events?

Yes: ActivationPal.track("workout_logged", mapOf("type" to "run", "duration_min" to 42, "pro" to true)). Use any snake_case name. New names appear in the Events card with counts and unique devices, with no registration. For a Wear OS app, ActivationPal.trackFromWear("workout_started") files the event under Wear OS in the Devices card.

How does RevenueCat or Superwall revenue join Android events?

One revenue source per app. For RevenueCat, pass userId = Purchases.sharedInstance.appUserID to ActivationPal.configure and call ActivationPal.setUserId(...) again after login or logout. For Superwall, call Superwall.instance.identify(userId) and then ActivationPal.setUserId(userId). Setup: RevenueCat webhook, Superwall webhook and subscription analytics.

Do I need separate apps for iOS and Android?

Yes. Each store application is its own ActivationPal app with its own slug, API key and webhook. A shared authenticated user id can still represent the same customer across platforms. The iOS side is covered on iOS analytics and cross-platform apps on React Native analytics.

Does it show where Android installs come from?

Android does not send Apple AdServices attribution, so Android installs and revenue show as unattributed in Acquisition and are not counted as Apple organic.

How do I get started?

Create a free account, add an app, and follow the setup guide. The first 10,000 events are free and no card is required. Plans are on the pricing page.
